International Economic Forum: Europe 2009 Doing Business in Europe
Please join us for breakfast Thursday, June 25th as a special panel of European
Consuls General and Honorary Consuls to the United States will share the economic
opportunities in their countries for American businesses and entrepreneurs at
Doing Business With Europe at the University of Tulsa Collins College of Business.
Business leaders and local entrepreneurs are invited to hear which industries
are flourishing in Europe, which goods and services those countries want to
sell to the US and which goods or services produced in the US would have potential
markets in Europe. This special briefing on European business is part of a series
of international business breakfast programs sponsored by the TU Collins College
of Business, Tulsa Global Alliance, the TU Center for Executive and Professional
Development and the Tulsa Metro Chamber. Panelists already confirmed
represent Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands,
Russia and the United Kingdom. Open remarks and introductions will be made by
Mike Neal, President of the Tulsa Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. Buffet
breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. with the program from 8:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in
the Collins College of Business, 2900 E. 5th Street on the TU campus. Register

largest economy in the world, there would seem to be an unlimited potential market.
So what are the keys to being successful in Brazil? What
role does the Brazilian government play in growing business in Brazil and what
do you need to know about area's culture before you jump into negotiations with
this growing Latin American neighbor? Join us for a special
keynote presentation by Lorrie Fussell, Brazil Desk Officer for the US Department
of Commerce, as she shares her expertise and answers your questions about the
business climate in Brazil. As the Brazil Desk Officer,
Ms. Fussell works to ensure that Brazil provides market access to U.S.
companies and complies with trade obligations with the United States. Ms. Fussell
also is engaged in a wide range of economic and commercial analysis of the Brazilian
market and advises senior officials on U.S.-Brazil trade policy, market access
and trade agreements compliance. She assists in advancing policy issues under
the U.S.-Brazil Commercial Dialogue and is the lead for the U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum,
a joint White House and Commerce initiative that brings together business leaders
to identify ways to strengthen the economic relationship. Based at the U.S. Department
of Commerce headquarters in Washington D.C., Ms. Fussell maintains close liaison
with other U.S. government agencies, business organizations, and Brazilian government
entities. At the Department of Commerce, Ms. Fussell has
also worked on issues related to Cuba's economy and completed a five-week fact
finding mission to Angola to assess the viability of opening a Foreign Commercial
Service Office at the U.S. Embassy in Luanda. She originally joined the U.S. Department
of Commerce in 2006 as a Presidential Management Fellow in the Market Access and
Compliance division of the International Trade Administration (ITA). Before
joining the Department of Commerce, Ms. Fussell worked at Kissinger McLarty Associates
(KMA), a strategic international advisory firm headed by former Secretary of State
Henry Kissinger and Thomas F. "Mack" McLarty III, formerly President
Clinton's Chief of Staff and later Special Envoy for the Americas. At KMA, Ms.
Fussell assisted the President and Managing Partner in counseling U.S. companies
on market access, strategic planning, corporate communications, and political
and economic risk issues throughout Latin America. Ms.
Fussell has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from
the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts Degree in International Commerce
and Policy from George Mason University. Ms. Fussell is fluent in Spanish and
Portuguese.

NOW! Le Cong Phung is a career diplomat.
He was appointed by President Nguyen Minh Triet as Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the United States of America
in October 2007. Prior to his appointment, he was the
First Deputy Foreign Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, second ranking
official, assisting Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in the conduct
of Vietnams foreign policy. He served as Deputy Foreign Minister between
2001 and 2004 and Assistant Foreign Minister from 1999 until 2000. From 2000 through
2004, he acted as Chairman of the Committee on Border Affairs and as Chairman
of the National Commission for UNESCO. During his 37-year
career, Ambassador Le Cong Phung served in various foreign service posts in England
(1974-1977), China (1978-1980), Indonesia (1984-1987) and as Ambassador to Thailand
(1993-1997). Ambassador Le Cong Phung was born on February
20, 1948 in Thanh Hoa Provice, Vietnam. He graduated from the College of Diplomacy
of Vietnam in 1971. He speaks fluent English and French. He and his wife, Nguyen
Thi Nhan, have two sons. Vietnam, a country with a four-thousand-year
history but a young population with more than half of its 84 million people under
30 years old, now promotes itself as one of the most dynamic economies in the
world. Two decades of economic reforms have transformed Vietnam into a lively
market. The country now has diplomatic and trade relations with more than 170
countries and territories. Vietnam is now known as a favorite tourism destination
for American people, with beautiful beaches, exotic food and hospitable and friendly
people. The history of the Vietnam-US relationship has
turned the page over the last decade with significant milestones, including - Establishment
of diplomatic relations in 1995

opportunity to hear directly from policy-makers and specialists about these issues
and the implications for U.S. policy and their own communities. |

Confucius Institute at the OU Schusterman Center in Tulsa will host the China
Town Hall program this year. The program will begin with local connections, followed
by a nationwide live webcast at 6:00 p.m. with speaker Norman J. Ornstein, Resident
Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. He will speak about The China
Issue in the 2008 Presidential and Congressional Campaigns. The local speaker
is Dr. Mark Frazier, the Conoco Phillips Professor of Chinese Politics; Dr. Frazier
will follow up Norm Ornstein remarks with his own insights and conduct a local
discussion among audience members. The 2007 China Town Hall, organized by TGA,
