Kids' World offers many opportunities
for a teacher to expand the role of international education
in the classroom. From workshops to the Kids' World international
curriculum, there are many opportunities to learn more about
global issues and how to include them in your lesson plans.
Workshops
Tulsa Global Alliance, in conjunction with the Tulsa World Newspaper
in Education Program, hosts several workshops prior to Kids'
World to provide teachers tools for teaching global respect
and understanding in their classrooms. In
order to enhance the Kids' World field trip experience, these
workshops also provide orientation sessions to help teachers
prepare for the festival.
In 2006, Tulsa Global Alliance and the Tulsa World ran a 10-week
geography series in the newspaper, which featured Tulsa's eight
sister Cities. Other educational intiatives have included a
geography game contest, tolerance workshops and Culture Box
workshops.
