Celle
is located in the state of Lower Saxony and is situated about 35 km northeast

Junge Chor
visit The Junge Chor is a choir group from Celle which came to visit us
for 10 days in early April. The choir has 42 members, but only 18 of them came
to visit us. They presented German culture at the Mckinley Elementary School and
at the Booker T Washington High school. They also sang at the TCC German Spring
Festival, and at the Tulsa Global Alliance annual Sister Cities meeting. During
its stay in Tulsa the choir was hosted by several families who were thrilled by
the spontaneity and friendliness of the group. The families introduced the choir
members to several of Tulsa's attractions. Amongst other things, they saw the
Golden Driller, ORU, Riverside Drive, the Zoo, Tulsa downtown' s architectural
heritage, Woolaroc, the Jenks Aquarium, the Caravan ballroom, Etc.The choir was
also given a VIP tour of our new City Hall, and they delighted our Mayor with
their rendition of the song "Oklahoma". We also took them to Oklahoma
City to visit the Bombing Memorial, the Cow Boy Hall of Fame, and the Capitol
where they were given a standing ovation when they sang "Oklahoma" to
the legislature.

Rowers visit Members of the Celle Rowing Club arrived in Tulsa for a six
day visit on April 15th. They participated in the rowing competition which took
place on Zinc lake on Saturday April 18th. We were quite proud of them when they
announced that they placed second in one of the races, until they informed us
that there were only two teams competing in that race. While in Tulsa, the
Rowers visited downtown Tulsa and admired our Art Deco buildings. They were curious
about the old Tulsa pictures displayed in the underground corridors, and they
were quite impressed with our new City Hall. Our visitors were also quite eager
to visit our local stores such as Lyons Indian store, Drysdale, and Atwoods. They
Purchased Items such as cow boy boots and belts, along with many Tshirts, and
Garth Brooks Cds. The Celle rowers made many new friends while in Tulsa and
a few of the Tulsa rowers became interested in the possibility of visiting Celle
to participate in one of its rowing competitions
