Tulsa participates in the Sister
Cities International Program, which aims to promote
peace through mutual respect, understanding, & cooperation
- one individual, one community at a time. Tulsa currently
has eight Sister Cities
around the world. Each partnership plans cultural, educational
and economic exchanges to allow citizens from each community
the opportunity to learn more about their world neighbors.

Tulsa
Global Alliance has brought international visitors to
Tulsa for more than 20 years. Leaders and prominent citizens
from virtually every nation participate in the International
Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), sponsored by the
US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural
Affairs (ECA). TGA
is one of 95 Councils for International Visitors across
the country. Future leaders and prominent citizens from
around the world participate in this program and visit
U.S. cities to meet with various business professionals
and participate in cultural activities and home hospitality.

enterprise in action in the United States.

As
part of the United States' effort to assist the former
USSR with its transition to a free market economy, the
United States Department of State launched the Business
for Russia (BFR) project in late 1993. The Community
Connections Program is an outgrowth of BFR and includes
other countries which were part of the former USSR. Through
the Community Connections project, professionals from
the former Soviet Union learn about Western business and
professional practices and apply this new information
to build stronger economies.

Explore the world at the Kids'
World International
Festival, an award winning multicultural event for the
entire family.. Nearly 100 exhibitors, representing ethnic
groups, public service organizations, civic groups, educational
institutions and businesses provide free hands-on activities
for children learn about the world.

Tulsa Global Alliance
annually presents its Global Vision Dinner and Awards
to recognize outstanding individuals and institutions
in the community that contribute to citizen diplomacy,
global understanding, world political stability or cooperative
efforts to solve international health, economic, social
or environmental challenges.

Tulsa
Global Alliance supports many educational
programs, and partners with other organizations having
similar educational goals. Tulsa Global Alliances' global
education programs are in place in area school systems
and among area residents to better prepare individuals
for life in a multicultural world. Educational programs
include the Culture Box Program,
hands-on authentic boxes of activities and cultural artifacts
representing 40
countries, available for rental and make a great addition
to any classroom presentation; the
Global Youth Alliance (GYA), open to youth interested
in broadening their global horizons and meeting students
from around the world and the Sister
Cities Young Artists Program, an annual art contest
between Tulsa area students and Tulsa's eight sister cities
young artists. Winners of the local contest compete in
the national competition.

International understanding
and economic development go hand-in-hand; therefore, through
a joint-venture partnership between the Tulsa Global Alliance
and the University of Tulsa College of business Administration,
TGA offers international
business seminars to help local companies learn about
doing business in the global marketplace by addressing
more general understanding with programs that focus on
country and regional agendas and specific international
business issues such as freight forwarders, currency exposure
or sourcing leads.
