World in A Box Day
TGA is proud to partner with local schools, libraries, institutions, and organizations to create opportunities for greater understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity.
Preparing a future workforce for success in a globally competitive economy involves a mastery of cross cultural and collaborative skill sets.
TGA incorporates Tulsa's broad network of cultural groups in activities that promote cultural understanding to area youth.
TGA partners with area K-12 schools, colleges, and supporters to help incorporate global education into ongoing instruction.
Scheduled on the first Saturday of August, World In A Box Day coincides with the conclusion of the library’s summer reading program. World In A Box Day began in 2016 with approximately 200 students; this year, over 1000 students from across Tulsa participated.
This global education festival introduces children and families to different countries around the world through fun hands-on activities and entertainment, including flag coloring, face painting, and having their names written in different languages. Students receive a passport and collect stamps and stickers at booths representing countries around the world, and win a globe keychain if they collect enough stickers. In 2019, dancers representing Native American tribes, Korea, India, Mexico, and Scotland performed on stage.
