Global Vision Gala
Each year, Tulsa Global Alliance recognizes and honors an outstanding organization and outstanding individuals for significant and lasting contributions to citizen diplomacy, global understanding, world political stability, religious accord, international trade or cooperative efforts to solve health, social, or environmental challenges.
A Look Back at 2020's Gala...
In 2020, TGA celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Tulsa's Sister Cities Partnerships. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, TGA held its first-ever virtual Gala. Emceed by Gitzel Puente, the gala honored the City of Tulsa, HANSON, and the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, and included special greetings and musical performances from Tulsa's Sister Cities plus a live auction.
The 2020 Honorees:
In keeping with TGA’s mission to build global community by fostering international partnerships, connections, and citizen-to-citizen relationships, Tulsa Global Alliance annually recognizes and honors an outstanding organization and outstanding individuals for significant and lasting contributions to citizen diplomacy, global understanding, international trade, or cooperative efforts to solve world challenges.
The City of Tulsa
Through the Office of the Mayor, Tulsa City Council, and many City departments, The City of Tulsa has been a steadfast supporter and partner of Tulsa’s International Sister City Program since our first Sister City agreement with San Luis Potosi, Mexico was signed in 1980. Tulsa’s Mayors, Auditors, City Councilors, and other officials have worked with Tulsa Global Alliance to promote exchanges and activities between Tulsa and our Sister Cities of San Luis Potosi, Mexico; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Beihai, China; Tiberias, Israel; Utsunomiya, Japan; Zelenograd, Russia; Celle, Germany; and Amiens, France. Throughout the years, the City of Tulsa has carried out exchanges with our Sister Cities in firefighting, city administration, economic development, health care, museum and library administration, and many other fields. Thanks to the City of Tulsa, our Sister City program has received three times the Best Overall Program Award from the Sister Cities International organization.
Tulsa-based musicians Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson of the band HANSON are multiple Grammy nominated, international recording artists recognized for their contributions to citizen diplomacy and global understanding through their music and charitable work around the world. For over 25 years, HANSON has cultivated a worldwide following through national and international performances on six continents. HANSON tours have helped alleviate poverty and support AIDS causes through pre-concert fundraising “walks”. Their strong Tulsa home base supports a recording studio and internationally recognized music festivals that bring thousands of visitors to Tulsa each year. Their work uniquely broadens Tulsa’s global footprint by introducing new global audiences to Tulsa’s deep musical roots. Tulsa is proud to be recognized as HANSON’s home, and TGA is proud to recognize Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson as Tulsa’s very own Global Music Ambassadors.
